• the length of labour by 25% with fewer complications
  
• births by cesarean section by 26%
• births with vacuum extraction or forceps by 41%
• use of any pain medications by 28%
• likelihood of being dissatisfied with or negatively rating one's birth experience by 33% (Hodnett and colleagues 2004).
